This is a sequel to my previous post SLO, Perfect Getaway.
On the last day of our trip, we had free breakfast at the hotel then headed out in our hiking gears. This time, three of us. This is a popular hike with the locals so go early if you plan to do this on a weekend. There are some shaded areas in the first 0.75 miles or so but the rest of the way to the peak is uncovered.

The trail ends at a bench that has a sign says END OF TRAIL. Some continued on and climbed the rocks to reach higher points. To be honest, it makes me feel uncomfortable when people hike off the trail. …especially when there is a sign like this at the end of the trail.
Good to Know:
- Total Distance: 3.3 miles
- Elevation Gain: 942 feet
- Difficulty Rating: Moderate
- Dogs on leash
- Free street parking available at the trailhead

Heart shaped rocks are the best!
They sure are! I don’t particularly look for them so when I come across one, I get so excited for finding it! Can’t help wondering how many people just pass by it without noticing it.
I love your eye for details – the heart shape rock is cute! Lovely photos and great view. Love the last picture where Xena is enjoying the view:)
Thanks Inger! I do care about details. That’s so true! I like the last picture too. We both admired the view.
Fabulous post! Looks like a perfect day 🙂
Thanks Laura! Yes, it was a perfect day. Everyday is a perfect day when we can do things that make us happy with whom we want to share, isn’t it? I see a bunch of perfect days in your photo blogs. 🙂
So true! 😉
Beautiful hike! We look for hearts on each hike. Sometimes a rock, sometimes a cactus. One time it was a tree trunk. We also have a similar sign in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge – a reminder to never hike alone.
I’d have loved to see a heart shaped tree trunk!
The tree was leaning to the side and the trunk was showing a heart shape. It was cool!
I also love heart shaped rocks! Bishop peak is a great hike!
I enjoyed it for sure! Thanks for stopping by!
