I parked in the parking lot across Ortega Oaks Candy Store. The candy store sells the Adventure Pass if you forget yours. The Bear Canyon trailhead is on the south side of the store. There is a big sign for it. You can’t miss it. Soon we came to the San Mateo Wilderness information board

In the Tonto National Forest near Apache Junction, Peralta Trailhead is located 49 miles east of Phoenix, Arizona in the Superstition Mountains. Peralta Road to the trailhead is a dirt road but you don’t need a high clearance car. There is plenty of parking in the lot but it gets full by mid-morning during on weekends.
Hidden Valley is in the South Mountain Park just 8 miles outside of Phoenix, Arizona. There is a parking lot at the trailhead but if it’s full, you should be able to find free parking on the street. The South Mountain Park has an extensive trail system and this is one of the many hikes
