We started before 8 am and there was plenty of shade for the pups. We stopped at the visitor center to use the restrooms. Deer was there to greet us. We were less than 50 feet away from one of them. Xena and Momo did great. They stayed calm and watched the beautiful creatures move

Mesa Peak Trail is also known as Mesa Peak Motorway. From Pacific Coast Highway, take Corral Canyon Road. Stay on Corral Canyon Road for about 5 miles or so.
